Tragedy stikes SeaWorld Marina

On Thursday August 9thSeaWorld Marina experienced a vessel sinking, raising environmental concerns for the surrounding water. Its speculated that a diver working on the engine of the boat was to blame for the major mishap, but nothing has been confirmed. When a vessel sinks, surrounding water and wildlife can be quickly contaminated with fuels, hydraulic fluid, chemicals, and oil. With SeaWorld home to thousands of marine animals, contamination in the surrounding bay water could have quickly spread to the neighboring park. Luckily, marina employees spotted the troubled vessel and swiftly contacted vessel assist. The vessel was towed out of the marina and no contamination was reported.
Although no spills were reported, thousands of boats sink each year leaving marinas and their neighbor with environmental damages. Your boat could be next. Stay connected to your vessel with MarineSync’s MS2 Vessel Monitoring system and be notified if your vessel needs immediate attention. The MS2 Vessel Monitoring system will protect your floating investment and the environment around it.

$3.2M yacht sinks at dock; tragedy could have been avoided with monitoring system

The once glamorous Sierra Rose, an 86-foot, three-story luxury yacht now rests against the bottom of the Tahoe Keys Marina. The yacht, previously known for its state-of-the-art amenities including a gourment gallery, a 20ft. Witnesses state that more than a dozen people were on board when they heard the sound of tearing metal. Despite the apparent mishap, some passengers stayed aboard for more than an hour. Now, concerned marina officials and other vessel owners in the Tahoe Keys Marina worry that the Sierra Rose might leak fuel or sewage into the lake. Owner of the Sierra Rose, was aboard while the craft took on water, but was not notified early enough to save his 3 bedroom yacht.
